Community Education Coordinator
Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited 4 year college or university in an approved school of social work, psychology, sociology or other behavioral science is preferred. Special emphasis on community work is required.
Reporting Supervisors:
The Community Education Coordinator shall report to the Executive Director and his/ her designee.
Position Supervised:
The Community Education Coordinator does not directly supervise.
Job Expectations and Responsibilities:
1. He/ she shall actively reach out into the community to identify, intervene and divert potentially problem children and families from the juvenile justice system where possible.
2. He /she shall actively provide educational and consultative services to youth, families and the community to aid in early identification of potential clients.
3. Provide agency and community education regarding services available through the outreach program.
4. Establish and maintain ongoing contact with schools, police and youth serving agencies in the county.
5. Assist youth servicing agencies, schools and police in identifying potential clients.
6. Provide in-service educational and consultative services to school administrators, counselors and classroom teachers in the areas of youth development and behavior as well as agency program services.
7. Serve as liaison between Okmulgee-Okfuskee County Youth Services, Inc. and County schools.
8. Develop and participate in community directed educational programs in the area of youth
development and behavior.
9. Assist police departments in crisis intervention with youth and families.
10. Provide information and referral service to youth and families in need of services not provided by Okmulgee-Okfuskee County Youth Services, Inc.
11. Assist youth and families to access their needs for services and develop service plans where indicated.
12. Maintain files and a record keeping system.
13. Provide necessary statistical data to inform the Board of Directors, Executive Director and funding sources of program activity.
14. Participate in staff meetings.
15. Provide in-service educational and consultative services to Okmulgee-Okfuskee County Youth Services staff.
16. Alternate with designated staff members to ensure continuous on-call coverage.
17. All other duties as assigned by the Executive Director and/ or his/ her designee.
