The mission of the Okmulgee-Okfuskee County Youth Services (OOCYS) is to improve quality of life for children, youth and families in the corporations’ service area by addressing the mental health needs through direct services of counseling, education, parenting, consultation and advocacy in the counties. 

The vision of Okmulgee-Okfuskee County Youth Services, Inc. believes it is the right of every individuals regardless of race, color, sex, gender identity, race, social support cultural orientation, disability, language, psychological characteristics, sexual orientation, physical situation, spiritual beliefs, marital status, ethnic group, social economic status, ancestry, national origin, military or veteran status, degree of disability, language, and/or handicapping condition or status as a qualified disabled individual and/or the inability or refusal to pay for the services or any other characteristic protected by law, included by law, including association with member of a protected class to have the highest quality of services available.  All services are provided free of charge.

Hence, a significant increase in deaths from fentanyl and other opioids in our rural community’s attchement#1. The THOPE harm reduction program will provide and implant awareness of substance use and abuse of drugs while offers crisis intervention empowerment. 

The HOPE program will provide drug awareness and parent empowerment with the focus on use and abuse with crisis intervention. Drug education and parent involvement.

ASSESSMENT

Daniels Memorial – Is measurable software to collect data such as (an independent Living Skills Software).  The software will formulate the individual’s information and then produces a holictic family plan (IFP) is Designed for individuals 14 years and older. The skill plan focusing on needs, goals, and specific strategies for life skills. This assessment also has a post assessment that allows the family to see their own growth.  The system combines technology with a comprehensive assessment tailored to each individual’s needs.    

Curriculum

The results of studies testing the Bitvon Life Skills (Independent Life skills) training program have consistently shown that it reduces tobacco, alcohol and marijuana use in all age groups.  In addition to life skills the HOPE program will also include how to build healthy interpersonal relations. The program will work through-out our rural communities and it is a very versatile curriculum that will allow the information to be tailored to fit the specie needs of each community in Okmulgee and Okfuskee counties…   The bitvon lifeskills Program will be used as the curriculum and Naloxone program is the harm reduction program.

Classes: The classes will be held at OOCYS once a week for 4 continuous weeks.  All referrals from the schools, courts and/or probation, DHS etc. will be emailed to OOCYS HOPE harm reduction program with the reason for the referral and all contact information.  

All youth that are referred must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The parent is very important in order to to raise strong

Team

A team member is assigned a referral, and will administer the assessment (using Daniels Memorial) which will create the IFP (Individual Family Plan) this plan will help the family to reach their optimum level of wellness and functionality within their communities.   The referrals will address 3 main populations 1) Community partners (ex: Department of Human Services) 2) Justice system 3) School system, The continuum of care and service is then monitored and the family is advocated for by use of the (IFP) Individual Family Plan until their goals are met.

The team will follow coordination care, tracking progress, and other indirect services. Coordination of care, for example, is when a client’s activities and information is organized &/or shared among all of the participants concerned with their care, with the ultimate goal of achieving safer and more effective treatment.

Conclusion

The combination of these 3(three) programs will create a conducive, holistic approach to meet the needs in our rural communities. As a wraparound harm reduction program we believe that this is the most effective approach to help heal our children and families, Mind, Spirit, and Body.
